TORBAY ARTSBASE AWARD WINNERS!!!

The Torbay Film Club would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all of our members and everyone who has supported us in coming to a film screening.  The Torbay Film Club has been a huge success this year and this is reflected in the fact that the club was awarded the trophy for the CREATIVE ORGANISATION OF THE YEAR 2008 by Torbay Artsbase (see site). 



CALLING ALL SHORTS - SUBMISSIONS BY 16 OCT
As you know, in November we are having a short films evening, and we’re currently looking for short films made by local film makers, enthusiasts and students. If you, or someone you know, has a film of up to 30 minutes you would like to show to a local audience, email admin@torbayfilmclub.co.uk by the 16th of October 2008.

Nominated for eight Academy Awards at the time, this black and white classic continues to have relevance and a warning for every generation.

Thanks to everyone who cast their votes for the ‘Members’ choice’ screening in December. And the winner is… The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, an extraordinary and mesmerising account of Jean-Dominique Bauby, who can only tell his incredible story by blinking his left eyelid after a kind of stroke left him paralysed with ‘Locked-in’ syndrome. This French film won two Golden Globes and the Cannes Film Festival award for Best Director, so obviously our members have very good taste!

All screenings will start at 7.30.  Please arrive no later than 7.15 to ensure admission.

If you would like to join the Torbay Film Club and support us in screening the finest independent and world cinema, in Torbay please print and complete the Application Form.  All members who join in October will be able to see the next 8 screenings for just £24. 

Existing members can extend their membership to May 09 for just £15.  We hope that all of our existing members will stay with us into the Spring 09 season and continue to enjoy the films we screen.  All of the Spring 09 films have been nominated by our members through the Member's Choice voting.
